Last night the leadership of the convention committee, TESA President, TESA President Elect, TESA President Elect-Designate, TESA board chair, and the committee on laws met to discuss the State convention and business needing to be done at the convention.  Here are the highlights:
* Convention dates will be moved to July 31 – August 2, 2020
The convention will still be held at the Crowne Plaza
* The convention agenda will be abbreviated to Friday and Saturday.  The agenda will be sent out as soon as it is ready.
* The new date of the convention need to be advertised.  Andy and I would like the VPs and VP elects to work together to get the new dates out to the lodges AND encourage the membership in your district to attend.
* TESA State Sweetheart program is scheduled FOR THE ORIGINAL DATE.  Please work with district treasurers to have the sweetheart form (available on Texaselks.org) completed, ONE check ready, and State Fund drive tickets ready.
Details for submitting checks and tickets will follow.
* The State fund drawing is also scheduled FOR THE ORIGINAL DATE.
Details for submitting tickets will follow.
* The TESA fiscal year ends at the beginning of June.  We will need a continuing resolution (vote by email) to be able to spend budget money until we meet at the end of July.
The budget will be send out for email vote as soon as the TESA board of trustees approves the budget.  Timeline is end of May
* There will be a Zoom meeting to take care of installation of officers and other critical issues at the beginning of June.  The ceremonial swearing-in will be at the July convention.
There will be an eblast to the TESA membership and on Facebook regarding the convention.  Please contact your district’s current VP and offer assistance.  I suggest offering to work with two or three lodges in your district (you pick the lodges) and coordinate your efforts.
With all of this said, things may change.  We are still at the “mercy” of the Governor and local officials during this stage of the coronavirus.
Please feel free to email or call me if you have any questions,
Mike Callahan, PDDGER
