HOMECOMING 2017 SEPTEMBER 15 & 16. 2017 Ottine Texas
Texas Elks Children’s Services, Inc. operates Elks Camp and the special grant program. Homecoming is an annual open-house activity. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for Elks, their spouses and supporters to view the facility first-hand and to have an old-fashioned family reunion.
In addition to renewing old friendships, many activities are conducted on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Activities will vary from year to year, but some are: silent auction/auction, a golf tournament, a Chili, Beans and Barbecue cook-off, horseshoes, etc. Special activities are usually scheduled at the local Lodges on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Homecoming is for you to come and see what YOU have accomplished! Come on out! Have fun, raise funds for TECSI and the First Lady project, visit with other Elks and Friends to exchange ideas, and to take pride in our state major project!

A Personal Letter and Invitation from First Lady Renea Oswalt
John and I are super excited about Homecoming and all the wonderful activities planned for this year. We cherish every opportunity to be with our friends, fellow Elks, Sweethearts and all Elk supporters, especially when we have the privilege of coming together to do what we do best….. “raising money for the kids.”
During Homecoming, this year there will again be a First Lady’s store with a variety of items, both new and gently used. Please solicit donations from your lodges / districts and drop these at the First Lady’s booth under the pavilion, when you arrive, so the items can be priced. Remember to bring items you would be interested in buying and those that are in good condition. The most popular items in the past have been, household objects such as candles, decorative serving trays, glassware, dishes, wall hangings, holiday decorations, kid’s games / toys and any handmade items. Some handmade items that have done well are jellies, jams, lap blankets/quilts, signs / wall hangings and pillows and picture frames, to name a few.
The First Lady’s booth will also include individual items such as gift baskets, metal signs, Crown Royal Quilt, Rustic Beverage Cooler and several other items that will be made available as prizes, to be given away at homecoming, or at future scheduled Elk events. Give-away dates will be provided as tickets are sold. Bottled water and TESA Directories will also be available for sale at the First Lady’s booth. ALL proceeds will benefit trips to Sea World for our summer campers.
A NEW and EXCITING ACTIVITY is being planned for this year’s event. Stay tuned for more information to be shared at a later date.
Wear your Texas Elks “BE LOUD BE PROUD” / “GO BIG OR GO HOME” t-shirts on Friday and/or Saturday.
The lunch menu for Friday will be pulled pork sandwiches with homemade potato salad and fixings.
The First Lady’s reception will be held in the Archives Room at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jennifer Rigdon will be our guest speaker and light snacks and cold beverages will be served. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the camp and activities offered to campers. Please plan to attend if you can.
I look forward to seeing you all soon! THANKS for supporting the kids!
Texas Elks are AWESOME!
